While I'm a produced playwright who loves the theatre, I am also drawn to writing in one of my other favorite genres - young adult fiction.
I'm still looking for the right agent and working to find a publisher for my debut. Here's what I'm working on now!

The Girl Beneath
Young Adult * Horror / Paranormal* Word Count: 72,000
A year after her mother dies, fifteen-year-old Annalise is struggling to survive ordinary life. She finds the teenagers roaming her high school hallways more terrifying than the beasts she writes about in her fantasy stories, whether it's the frenemy that wants to embarrass her or the teen boys who think they can use her. But Annalise has a secret. Deep in the woods behind her school sits a long-forgotten church where Annalise can write in peace. And somewhere beneath the foundation, another girl is waiting to be set free.
Annalise has the ability to release the girl beneath, a girl with her own secrets born out of death and bloodshed. If Annalise succumbs to her, she may find the power to cut down her enemies. She might also be forced to watch as anger and hatred consume what's left of her life.

Scrivner
Young Adult * Dystopian / Science Fiction * Word Count: 96,000
Sixteen-year-old Fai lives in Logicus, a society built on freedom, routine, and a secure foundation in logic. All Fai wants is to receive a good Evaluation number from The Machine so she can live her “best possible life” as a Scrivner – a teller of stories – and be with Marcus, the boy she loves. But on the night before her Evaluation, Fai’s normal dream-stories of fire and death are interrupted. She awakens with a strange new word in her mind: mother. Determined to find the word and its meaning, Fai and her best friend, Ana, gain access to a room of illegal books from the Outside, a place supposedly destroyed years ago in a religious war. Finding the room leads Fai to believe the Outside might still exist, and that her family waits for her there.
With the help of their mentor, Fai and Ana escape to the Outside in search of the truth. Upon arriving, Fai learns that the memory of her mother was not real, but a trick meant to encourage her rebellion. There is no family waiting for her. Stunned by this betrayal, Fai abandons Ana, returning to Logicus, Marcus, and the life she thought she wanted. Now working for The Machine as a Scrivner, Fai discovers the lies on which Logicus was built. But more disturbingly, she uncovers a strategy to end the war for good, one that could destroy the lives of everyone on the Outside, including the friend she left behind. Fai must decide between living the life she always wanted and looking beyond herself to save the only family she has left.
Scrivner strives to introduce teenagers to the ideas found in classic speculative fiction such as Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World, while appealing to fans of Divergent, Uglies, and The Giver. My novel emphasizes the importance of young people making a place for themselves in the world, rather than allowing society to do it for them.
